I was an MP at the 720th Long Binh Post Oct 68. Transferred to 458th Cat Lai early 69 around Tet, the day LB Post was attacked. I was the coxswain on J7803 until I returned to the states in October 69.

I have some very sad news to share with you. My brother, Bernie, passed away. His body was found in his apartment this afternoon. They think he had been dead about a week. His body is being cremated and a graveside memorial service is planned for sometime after Thanksgiving. His cremains will be interred next to his young son who died in 1978 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha. Bernie had a kind heart and beautiful soul. Thank you for being so good to him at the reunion. My Dad was with the DUKWs, LARCs and BARCs in the Pacific, in France and at Ft. Story. I will show him this site and see who he knows.

I joined the 458th in Camp Leroy Johnson on 24 Dec 1963 one month after JFK was assassinated, went to Fort Eustis for LARC V school and joined the advance party in Fort Story. I think Capt Landry gave the 458 the nickname "Tigers". I wonder if anybody from the 1963 -1965 era is active in your group.

Bringing back memories from back then. Hope to find some old buddies. I was at Ft. Story in Jan 56 until June or July 56. I was later sent to New Orleans at Camp Leroy Johnson on hurricane patrol.
